well, those certainly are feathers. quite good feathers as a matter of fact. it must have been a pain in the ass to draw them.

angels having six limbs isn't really all that ridiculous, you know
as far as religion is concerned, christian angels are spirits that supposely can move from one place to another in an instant and so, long time ago artists started picturing them with wings - to symbolise the oability of freely moving through space
as far as peoples' mentality is concerned, even thought people do know that wings are just another set of limbs, they tend not to see them as limbs - meaning that they see wings as "wings" and hands as "hands" - two separate terms. that's why, to most of people, wings on the back of an angel aren't anything strange or ridiculous. to tell the truth, probably the only people who see it as ridiculous are those who seriously study biology. it's similar with people who seriously study chemistry (such as myself) seeing diamonds as scraps of carbon, rather than precious stones.
as far as common sense is concerned, wings on the back of a human body looks better and more plausible than feathers stuck to actual hands. i mean, for christs sake, who'd take seriously a picture of human flapping his hands like some sort of chicken heh

Of course it's not ridiculous from a religious point of view (how can anything be, religious people already believe some hella weird things without thinking much of it), and I understand that the wings are more symbolic than actually real. I just like to play around with trivial things. I enjoy making people think of stuff they've never thought of before, and many people haven't thought of angels in a biological way. Of course it would be utterly ridiculous to actually start a serious conversation about something as absurd as angels, no matter which way you put it. As biological creatures, the thought of a human-bird hybrid is absolutely impossible (although interesting) and as spiritual creatures... Well, it's no use to try to define what's correct since it's a matter of belief.

So, it's just speculation for fun.

Haha, I wouldn't take seriously a guy who'd flap around with wings coming from his back. It would look so unnatural. I mean, what is he, an ant? Hm, maybe not an insect, since they actually do have wings separate from their other limbs... Maybe angels would be more credible if they had insect wings instead of a bird's? Oh, but christians would get angry 'cos their beloved God's messengers would look like fairies. XD

well, i think flapping wings on your back tould look more natural than flapping wings on your hands heh. but yeah, either way it's impossible. you'd have to have your spine bent in a difficult to imagine way, to actualy be able to walk around with wings stisking out of your back heh.

i don't really think christians would care if their god's messanangers would look like fairies. the problem is that with insect wings angels would look like flys or moskitoes heh
